Two animated films for the council-run Turnaround Programme, explaining a sensitive subject to young people and parents.
Talking about a difficult subject without making it cheesy.
The Challenge
The council-run Turnaround Programme works with young people involved in offending and their families. They needed two films explaining the programme with warmth and empathy: one speaking directly to young people, the other to parents. The starting point wasn’t a finished script. It was a collection of important things that needed saying.
The Method
We turned those points into two connected stories told through relatable animated characters. Every visual asset was created specifically for the project, giving both films their own consistent style. We then storyboarded everything before creating an animatic and draft voice-over, allowing us to test the story and pacing before the full animation began. Because the two films shared a visual world, assets could be reused intelligently without simply making the same film twice.
What We Delivered
Two distinctive animated films that explain a sensitive subject simply, sincerely and without losing the human side of the story.
